Sessions for adults and teenagers:First visit: 1½ to 2 hours; subsequent visits: 1 to 1½ hours. |
Sessions with children (ages 6—12):Experience shows that having young children sit whilst adults discuss him or her behind closed doors, brings about apprehension which is counter-productive. Please arrange for someone to look after your child during the first visit or to come alone, as we prefer to meet with one of the parents to learn about the circumstances, history of the family dynamic and about the child. We will then work alone with the child during follow-up consultations without parents in attendance as this encourages the child to talk more freely. If your child has had any evaluations done by an Educational Psychologist, and you are seeking help in that area, please bring those reports along with you to the first session. All sessions with children take about an hour. |
General rule of thumb:This depends on the issue to be addressed but generally it takes around 3—6 sessions. Your first session is a time to get to understand you and your problem and to tailor a path forward. Follow-up sessions dig deep into the issues at hand and explore ways to overcome them. There are specific situations that work differently, which we describe below. |
Stop smoking sessions — a package of three sessions:Our experience shows that those who have three sessions in close succession are most likely to succeed in stepping out of this habit. Following this method, 3 out of 4 clients stop smoking quite easily using hypnosis. Hypnosis has a success rate of about 75%. The package consists of one 2-hour session and two 1-hour follow-up sessions. Some heavily addicted people may need to engage in a longer-term nicotine rehabilitation programme with us. |
For weight loss, obesity and/or anorexia and bulimia:We suggest a stepped program starting with bi-weekly sessions for a couple of months and then spacing these sessions out to one a month for a few more months. This support over a time of gradual weight management helps you establish a new lifestyle pattern and to keep it. Therefore, you may need about 6—12 sessions over six to twelve months, depending on individual needs. The hypnosis therapy works well with the TR90 programme from Nuskin. TR90 is a science-based product range including detox, vitamins, nutrient rich snacks, eating plans and exercise guides to support better metabolism. We may recommend and supply Nuskin products for your use during therapy. |
For drug and alcohol addiction:Yvonne is an expert in dealing with addiction and co-authored the book Addiction therapy happens frequently at first, then as one gains insight and control, sessions can gradually be spaced further apart. Overcoming addiction needs long-term commitment. Depending on the severity and type of addiction, you may need to consult with us weekly or bi-weekly for a couple of months before spacing your visits. If necessary, expect to have sessions for a year or more. Contact us by using the When addiction affects a younger family member, it affects the whole family. Additionally, there are usually teenage/parent conflicts that complicate the situation with aggression, feelings of helplessness, petty theft, lying and loss of power. Youngsters then shut down, turn away as communication breaks down. For recovery to happen, parents must and siblings should occasionally be involved. We conduct the first session with young adults and their parents. Occasionally, parents will benefit from a couple of coaching sessions to help them deal with the trauma of the situation. To help a teenager, parents should understand what addiction is so they can actively and positively get involved in the recovery process. |
Deep seated trauma:Deep seated trauma may take a bit longer to resolve as one needs to proceed gently and empathetically and give the psyche time to adjust and heal. |
Relationship issues and couple's counselling:The first session is usually with both partners. We then work individually with each partner, strictly upholding confidentiality and impartiality, according to our strict code of professional conduct. Regular meetings as a couple helps take stock of one's progress. |
