Eating disorders
In these types of disorders, there is one common trait — a need for control. This need stems from a time in which one had lost control and now seeks to re-establish it (albeit in an inappropriate way) to cope with life. During this process, food-intake becomes the subject of one's control, symbolically satisfying the urge to be back in control. This suggests an underlying and unresolved feeling of powerlessness. Hypnosis is a powerful tool that digs deep into the subconscious mind, regresses to the original programming of the perceptual distortion that gave rise to this belief. Therapy reprograms this by generating healthier beliefs about self. Thus empowered, one takes back proper, healthy control over life, letting go of one's obsessive control over eating rituals.
